The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company (HEC) has won a 320 million USD contract to build facilities at the Long Son Petrochemical Complex.

Online newspaper Bizlive reported that HEC has signed a deal to build a water supply and treatment plant at the Long Son Petrochemical Complex in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The project will be carried out on a turnkey basis, meaning HEC will be responsible for the entire construction, from design to test operations. The company estimates construction will take 47 months after ground is broken.

Once completed, the Long Son Petrochemical Complex will be the largest of its kind in Vietnam.

Long Son Petrochemical Co Ltd, owner of the 5.4 billion USD project, is a joint venture between Thai conglomerate Siam Cement Group (SCG) and PetroVietnam.

SCG’s representative last month said the company will start construction on the complex next year and the facility will start commercial operations by 2022.-VNA
