Design Draftsman - HVAC

Position Purpose:
To prepare HVAC designs and equipment arrangement/installation drawings that conform to project specification and Class requirements

Major duties

• Complete design tasks as allocated by Superintendent
• Use correct supplier information in all designs
• Produce production details in conjunction with relevant line managers
• Write procurement specifications for major pieces of equipment
• Ensure designs comply with technical specification
• Ensure designs comply with Class and Flag requirements
• Review and co-ordinate sub-contractor designs and equipment

Other duties

• Prepare design information for submission to Class and Flag authorities
• Assist with developing shipyard standards for HVAC systems

Authorization

This position requires the staff member to have interaction with a wide range of local and foreign suppliers

Knowledge

• Knowledge of the marine and shipbuilding industry
• Understanding of ship HVAC system design and operation
• Knowledge and understanding of current IMO regulations

Qualifications

• Engineering degree specializing in refrigeration or equivalent

Skills

• Time management
• Average English
• Good AutoCAD
• Good Communication

Ability

• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to meet deadlines

Experience (if any)

• 1+ years of experience in the marine industry, either in a design office or shipyard

Experience with design and installation of marine HVAC systems
