The Vietnamese government has approved an updated Full Field Development Plan (FFDP) for the Te Giac Trang (TGT) offshore field.

London-listed E&P company Soco International said on Thursday that the Hoang Long Joint Operating Company, consisting of Soco International, PetroVietnam, and PTTEP, submitted the FFDP in the final quarter of 2016.

Soco explained that the updated FFDP entails an approval for up to 18 additional wells, with locations and additional support to be provided at a later date.

Also, the plan approves the addition of new processing equipment which will be installed on the H1 wellhead platform (H1-WHP).

The processing equipment will be designed to handle 90,000 barrels of liquid per day with specific water handling capacity of up to 65,000 barrels of water per day.

Ahead of formal submission of the updated field development plan to the authorities, the 2016 development drilling program on the TGT field in Block 16-1, the first since early 2015, started in November. Two infill wells, the TGT-27P and TGT-28P, were batch drilled by PetroVietnam Drilling’s PVD-6 jack-up rig on the H4-Well Head Platform (WHP) in the central area of the TGT field.

Both wells encountered hydrocarbons throughout both the Miocene and Oligocene reservoir horizons, and are currently being analysed following the execution of the initial perforation program.

The field itself was first discovered in 2005 and was the first commercial discovery on Block 16-1. Production began in 2011. More than 30 wells have been drilled, and the field is currently producing from three platforms, which have a total of 26 producing wells and one injector well.

A subsea pipeline transports oil from TGT to a nearby FPSO vessel where it is processed and exported by tanker to regional oil refineries.
