Job Requirement:
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor of Engineering (Naval Architecture, Machinery..) or equivalent
• Knowledge of regulatory body Rules and Regulations requirements.
Experienced: >3 years relevant experience & experience in Drafting within the Shipbuilding Industry.
Technical Skills
• Hydrostatic and stability calculations (Assists).
• Powering and resistance calculations (Assists).
• Problem solving using Engineering techniques.
• Ensure the Vessels Design meets requirements (Contractual Documents including General Arrangement & Specification as well as Classification Society & Relevant Rules).
• Ensure Austal processes and quality system are followed.
• Provides Design Input & support to the Production Process.
• Maintain an efficient filing system and ensure that all work is stored in appropriate locations.
• Coordinates work with other disciplines and groups to facilitate participation of various organizational units.
• Liaise with classification and flag surveyors.
• Develops & Maintains a sound knowledge of all Rules and Regulations pertaining to the design and construction of high speed aluminium vessels.
• Participates in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and complex coordination requirements.
• Proficient in Drafting software, Autocad, Shipconstructor and Microsoft office suite.
• Be skilled in 3D modelling.
