Project Planner

A. Position Purpose
To provide planning and progress information relating to company projects.
B. Major duties

• In conjunction with other project and operations staff, to plan and resource company projects.
• To provide overall integrated plans regarding all yard scope of works (projects)
• Monitor and report on progress.
• Maintain history of performance to be used in future works.

C. Other duties

  • Flexibility to learn and assist with other project disciplines
  • Willingness to assist with other non related tasks when directed to do so.
  • Assist with compiling estimations and tender documents

D. Performance Standards

• Provide accurate and thorough planning of the workscopes issued.
• Team player, willing to assist & liaise with other departmental members.
• Utmost discretion in dealing with company confidential issues.
• Identify problems and provide solutions for same.
• Be able to function effectively in an often fast moving requirement.
• Be able and willing to work to tight deadline.
• Supply accurate reports on planning and estimating tasks and details

C/ Job Specification (Knowledge, Qualification, Skills and Experience)
Knowledge

• Knowledge of ship system construction, particularly relating to block fabrication techniques and advance ship building theories and processes
• Experience in Oil & Gas construction beneficial.
• General Fabrication knowledge
• Past experience in planning & estimating software.
• Experience in MS office
• Good MS excel skills
• Excellent written & oral English language skills.
• Experience in account keeping software such as Axapta
• Tender documentation process

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in the previously mentioned disciplines and demonstrable skills in planning and estimating software.
• High school education, possibly diploma or degree in an Engineering discipline.
• Or minimum ten years on the job in a fabrication environment.

• Have a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to read and understand tender SOW.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Effective communicator in both written and spoken english.
• Willingness to work within and contribute to a team environment.
• Ability to maintain focus when working unsupervised.
• High level of accountability for work produced.
• Tender documentation understanding and control
• Understands the plan and what the progress problems are.

Experience (if any)

• Proven experience in project planning
• Proven experience in project estimating
• Proven experience in technical, fabrication or construction environment
