Vietnam’s crude oil exports this month fell 21.4 percent from a year ago to an estimated 640,000 tonnes, or 151,000 barrels per day (bpd), the government said on Wednesday.
Crude oil export revenues in January plunged 54.9 percent from the same month last year to $145 million, the General Statistics Office said.
Oil product imports rose 22.6 percent in the same period to an estimated 900,000 tonnes, with the value dropping 17.6 percent to $293 million, the office said in its monthly report.
Vietnam’s liquefied petroleum gas import in January rose 28.3 percent from a year ago to 140,000 tonnes, it said.
The Southeast Asian nation exported 9.2 million tonnes of crude oil in 2015, down 1.07 percent from a year earlier, while its imports of oil products rose 19 percent in the same period to 10.07 million tonnes, government data show.
Vietnam, Asia’s third-largest holder of crude oil reserves after China and India, produces an average 350,000 bpd of crude oil, or around 40 percent of that by Indonesia, the sole OPEC member in Southeast Asia.
